A 2012 to do list per the Paws and me (and possibly Brian).

2. Learn to shoot (esp. shotguns)
3. Befriend rednecks
4. Start commune / eco-village
5. Stock up on yarn and buy spinning wheel. Also, learn to spin.
6. Stock up on heavy objects to throw through store windows
7. Watch Survivor Man and post-apocalyptic movies
8. Start survivalist library
9. Read 2012 books.
10. Move to a sustainable survivalist location (perhaps Minnesota)
11. Have some seed packets
12. Hone bartering skills (in Mexico?)
13. Say often "I'll be the one to come to when the apocalypse hits!"
14. Stock up on perscriptions for the rest of your life
15. Divert river or use water purification, whichever is easier
16. Stock up on oil with fuel perks from GE
17. Buy van
18. Build bomb shelter
19. Learn skills such as fishing, hunting and wood-carving
20. Keep a supply of knives
21. Tape favorite tv shows so you have something to do
22. When possible use cabins used for Underground Railroad so nobody knows about it, such as in Hardy Boys books
23. Get more rabbits (per Mrs. Durda)
24. Avoid renewing Mayan calendar
25. Get a list of anti-venoms and poisons
26. Get a first-aid certifications
27. Learn canning and also how to make alcohol
28. Get an axe
29. Bring your towel
30. Get guard dog
31. Keep house well insulated
32. Get off the grid
33. Try not to die before then or after

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the way to survive the apocolypse was to make everyone else think that you are no better off than they are but just slightly luckier, even though you are actually quite well prepared. Otherwise, people will murder you to get yo' stash.

Also, I am curious as to what constitutes a survivalist library...
